The Center For Global Education
Mission
Mission Statement:
The Center for Global Education at Indiana University South Bend desires to develop, promote, and provide theoretical and practical resources that support the education of our youth in an ever interconnected global society.
The center recognizes the importance of the current multicultural curricula in many American schools. However, there is a need to go beyond the internal diversity in American schools and communities to embrace worldwide cultural diversity.
The world has become a global village and issues relevant in other parts of the world affect us wherever we find ourselves. If we can fully appreciate global conflicts, economics, education, human rights, and cultural priorities, we can better understand how the world system operates. With this knowledge, we can make the world more secure, equitable, humane, and bountiful for all.
Through IUSB's, School of Education, the Center will bring awareness of global consciousness to teachers and students in the Michiana area. In order to fulfill this mission, the center will provide the following: a Cultural Awareness Program (CAP), curriculum development, workshops for educators, guest speakers, IUSB courses in global education, and a variety of educational resources related to global education issues.
