Welcome to the College of Health Sciences web site. We have tried to give you good general information throughout the site on each school within the college.
Vision for the College
I understand the challenges that face higher education, nursing, dental hygiene and x-ray technology. We collaboratively address faculty development, scholarly activity, and the internal and external visibility and participation in the life of the University and community.
My vision for the College of Health Sciences is that each school within the college will be recognized as a leader in the provision of care/services and as the source of continuing education in health care. The college would be viewed not only as the sole public provider of education in the geographic area, but each will be recognized for excellence. The South Bend region faces worker shortages in all health care disciplines. It is incumbent upon a public provider of health care education to take particular care to address these shortages. Recruitment and retention of highly-qualified students is an important and necessary step in the process of educating high caliber health care professionals.
I look forward to the challenges that will make us the regional choice of higher education for all.

Employment opportunities are forecasted to continue to grow throughout the next several decades, as educated health care worker shortages continue to increase. Whether you choose Dental, Nursing, Radiography/Allied Health, or Social Work, your future employment outlook is bright.
The nursing program strives to offer a creative curriculum for meeting the current and future health care needs of society. The curriculum prepares a generalist in professional nursing and serves as a basis for graduate study.
The dental education/dental hygiene program provides education and clinical experiences to undergraduate students for future roles as oral health professionals.
Our radiography program provides our students with a comprehensive education in radiography, to prepare them to enter the radiographic profession as a competent entry-level diagnostic radiographer. Also, offered through Allied Health are preprofessional programs.
Newest school to the College of Health Sciences is the master's in Social Work. A program educating students to be effective and knowledgeable professional social workers prepared for practice in the twenty-first century.
