How do I get my transcript?
Visit http://www.iusb.edu/~regr/transcript.shtml for complete instructions on obtaining an official transcript. You may print an unofficial transcript from your OneStart account

What do I do if I need enrollment verification?
Complete the blue form in the Information Center: Gateway to Excellence and pick up your verification in the registrar's office the next day.

How do I register for class?
Instructions are on the registrar's Web site at www.iusb.edu/~regr/register.shtml. Quickie instructions are below:

  • Go to http://www.iusb.edu/.
  • Click on the link on the left-hand side that reads “OneStart”.
  • Click on the button on the left-hand side labeled "Login".
  • Enter your username and password. If you do not have a username and password, visit http://itaccounts.iu.edu.
  • Click on the tab at the top of the page labeled “Self-Service”.
  • Check for holds by clicking on the link that reads "Holds on My Record".
  • If there are no holds; click on the link in bold font that reads "Register for Classes".

What could be wrong if I'm not able to register?
Off-Campus Registration: If attempting to register from off campus, the computer's firewall settings may be a problem. Please ensure that the computer's security settings are lenient enough to allow you to use OneStart.
Not Term Activated: If your academic advisor did not tell the computer system that you are taking classes during the semester for which you are attempting to register, you will not be allowed to register.
Hold on Account: Holds are placed on accounts for several reasons such as unpaid fines or fees, judicial affairs issues, etc. Students with holds are not allowed to register until after the hold is removed. To see the reason for the hold, click on it and call the number listed.
Class/Time Conflict: You are not allowed to register for a class that is offered at the same time as a class for which you are already registered.
Needs Permission: Some departments require students to seek their permission to register for their classes. This ensures that only qualified students take certain classes.
Class is Full: There are only a certain number of seats available in each class. Once that number of students have registered for any given class, no more students are allowed to register.

How do I add a class after the 1st week of classes?
First, be sure that dropping a class won't change your financial aid or I-20 (for international students) status. Obtain and complete a "Drop/Add Form" from your academic advisor or in the Information Center: Gateway to Excellence. Once all necessary signatures are obtained, return the form to the Office of the Registrar in Administration Building 148X.

How do I drop a class after the 1st week of classes?
First, be sure that dropping a class won't change your financial aid or I-20 (for international students) status. Obtain and complete a "Drop/Add Form" from your academic advisor or in the Information Center: Gateway to Excellence. Once all necessary signatures are obtained, return the form to the Office of the Registrar in Administration Building 148X.

Where can I find out about online classes?
For-credit online courses are offered through the IU Bloomington campus. Information is available at http://scs.indiana.edu/. A brochure may be obtained in the Department of General Studies, Administration Building 233. Non-credit online courses are available through the Division of Extended Learning Services, Administration Building 128, (574) 520-4261.

What is the “FX” policy?
Also known as the "Grade Replacement Policy:"
This option is not available to graduate students.
The grade replacement option discussed in this document is subject to the following considerations: The policy applies only to undergraduate courses taken by an IU South Bend student who has not yet completed a bachelor's degree. If a bachelor's degree has been awarded, in no case may a grade be replaced for a course taken prior to the awarding of that degree.
Replaced grades are merely excluded from the calculation of the cumulative grade point average (GPA). All grades will remain a part of a student's academic record. An X next to the grade on the transcript will indicate that the grade is not included in the calculation of the IU GPA. Each academic unit may use a GPA calculation that does not honor grade replacement.
A student may exercise the grade replacement policy for a maximum of three courses or a maximum of 10 credit hours. A student may exercise the grade replacement policy only once for a single course. Once invoked, a student may not subsequently request reversal of the grade replacement granted as to a particular course.
The complete policy is available in the IU South Bend Bulletin.

When will I get my refund?
See financial aid.

Where do I take my transcript from another school?

What do I do if I'm returning after an absence?
