Instructional Media Services (IMS) provides instructional technology assistance to the faculty, students, and staff of Indiana University South Bend. Our mission is to provide technical expertise that directly facilitates the IU South Bend teaching and learning process.

To that end, we provide a range of services to help students and faculty make the most of today's technology.

Our services

  • Distance Learning
IU South Bend maintains facilities for both distance education instruction and videoconferencing. The three basic systems in operation are: Virtual Indiana Classroom (VIC), Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System (IHETS), and satellite downlinks.
  • Recording and Duplication
IMS supports the recording and duplication of audio and video recordings for classroom instructional use, and assists in the procurement of films and videos. IU South Bend faculty may reserve up 10 titles per class, per semester. A TV/VCR is available in NS075 to preview movies, and is usually available on a walk-in basis.
  • Consultation
IMS provides consultation service to the staff, students, and faculty of IU South Bend regarding instructional media projects and equipment. We strongly advise that anyone contemplating the purchase of media equipment consult with IMS prior to making decisions.
