Accessing Network Drives using Mac OSX 10.4+

If you are off-campus, or on the wireless network, you will need to establish a VPN connection before connecting to network drives.

Instructions for installing the VPN client can be found at http://www.iusb.edu/~sbit and following the link for phone, internet, and video connections.

Accessing H: O: S: W: and X: drives:

  1. Connect to VPN
  2. Go to the Finder
  3. Select Go, and choose Connect to Server, then in the Server Address field type in the following:
    • For H: or student O: drives, type smb://sb-inft-vault2.ads.iu.edu
    • For W: or S drives, type smb://sb-inft-vault3.ads.iu.edu
    • For faculty and staff O: drives, type smb://sb-inft-vault3.ads.iu.edu
  4. You may need to prefix your username with ads.iu.edu to authenticate to these systems (Ex. ads.iu.edu\username )
  5. Locate your directory
    • For department (H: or X: ) drive, choose the appropriate folder for your department.
    • For Campus Shared data (W: ) choose the folder Shared
    • For Student Shared data (S: ) choose the folder Stushared
    • For Personal Data Folders (O: ) choose the folder Home, which will show you a list of all personal data folders, you will need to scroll down to your username and select that folder.
