IT Computing Hardware
Policy
The Office of Information Technology provides the IUSB community with networked computing equipment. It is our responsibility to maintain the equipment and assist Capital Assets in tracking computing equipment. So that we may better serve the IUSB community, we have formulated the following policy.
- We ask that departments contact IT to discuss computing needs. Often, we are able to provide equipment outside of the normal distribution with units freed during rotation. Any equipment surplus should be directed to IT for proper redistribution/retirement. The IT help desk extension is 5555.
- We require that the relocation of computing equipment be accomplished only by IT personnel. This will ensure that the integrity of the network and the process of equipment tracking is not compromised. The IT help desk extension number is 5555. We desire a minimum of 1 week's notice, but prefer 2 weeks.
- We ask that departments wishing to purchase computing equipment contact the Senior Manager of Property and Procurement at extension 4835 with specifications and compatibility issues. To maintain the integrity of IT issued equipment, only IT personnel should open and install internal components to a computer. Assistance with peripheral installations should be initiated with the IT help desk at extension 5555.
