This course examines and analyzes workers and labor markets within the United States. Topics of study: employment practices, unemployment, discrimination, minimum wage, unions, collective bargaining, firms, investment policies, technological change, corporate governance, pensions, job security, the effects of globalization, and other contemporary labor issues.

This course will examine all aspects of workplace and academic sexual harassment. Discussions on EEOC guidelines and regulations; employer and school liability; personnel, school and labor agreement language and policies, arbitrator standards, and personal perspectives. Reasons for and solutions to workplace and academic sexual harassment will be discussed.

This course will examine the relatively recent law that has given employees new rights. The course will examine history of the passage of the FMLA. Discussions on maternity, parental and sick leave and protections for disabled workers in the US and other countries.
