Flexibility: IUSB has created convenient, flexible schedules. Since IU South Bend does not lock you into a sequential class schedule, you can take a semester off or carry less than a full-time load, without inhibiting your progress through the program. Most students can complete the RN to BSN program in two to two and a half years, while taking classes part-time.
Credit for Experience: IU South Bend's portfolio option grants you credit for your work experience.

Practical Experience: At Indiana University South Bend School of nursing, we believe your years of practical experience should count in the classroom. Through a professional portfolio review, you may be granted credit for your work expeirence. This option may allow you to fulfill core requirements or reduce field experience hours.
The Capstone Experience: During the last semeste of the BSN program, you will select an area of nursing to explore in more detail. The faculty and staff at IUSB will work with you to create an expeirence that is meangful and distinctive. Your RN capstone may act as a credit for professional experience or specialty nursing courses may be substituted for capstone credit. Certain nursing electives may fulfill the capstone requirement.
Your Career: In today's job market, a bachelor's degree in nursing will increase your mobility and your earning power. The BSN prepares you for carer enhancement and transitions in the changing health care system. Graduates from the IU South Bend BSN program are able to evaluate current nursing practices, apply research findings, and develop new approaches to leadership on the health care team. The BSN prepares the nurse for graduate studies.
