April 6, 2005
More than 30 films and videos will be shown during the two-day Independent Video and Filmmakers Festival (IVFF) at Indiana University South Bend. The fourth annual event will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 8, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 9.
The films are being presented in rooms 1001 and 1135 of Wiekamp Hall.
It is the only independent film festival of its kind in Northern Indiana.
There also will be film workshops in screenwriting, producing, special effects and directing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Each session will last about an hour.
Tickets for the festival are $5 for Friday, $10 for all day Saturday, or $15 for a two-day pass. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Friday night will kick off with various short films and two features; the comedy, “Saving Star Wars” and the documentary, “King of Steeltown.” Both films are made by natives of Indiana. The documentary, “So Glad I Made It” will begin the Saturday night lineup and the festival will conclude with the foreign feature, “Sandstorm.”
The IVFF is sponsored by the IU South Bend Alumni Association and supported by the Mid-America Filmmakers. This non-competitive festival is open to anyone who makes shorts or features, on video or film, including high school and college students.
