Robert C. Beutter, and Susan Magley will each receive awards at the annual honor lunch for the School of Business and Economics of Indiana University South Bend. The April 22 event recognizes outstanding students and faculty.
Beutter, who is the former mayor of Mishawaka, will receive the E.M. Morris Award. The award honors a Michiana businessperson whose achievements and leadership have contributed to the advancement of business and the quality of life in the Michiana area. The award was established in 1975.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from IU in 1957 and a law degree from IU in 1960. Following graduation she served two years in the U.S. Army as a captain in the Advocate General Corps assigned to military justice at Fort Sill, Okla.
Beutter served as mayor from 1984 to 2003. He currently practices law in Mishawaka with the law firm of May, Oberfell and Lorber.
Magley is founder of Magley and Associates, a staffing firm specializing in information technology, marketing and human resources. She will receive the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award. She graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from IU South Bend.
The company, which is based in San Francisco, is in its 10th year and has sales approaching $20 million with 13 full time employees and more than 140 active consultants.
Prior to developing her own business, she worked for 10 years with GW Consulting, in San Francisco and five years at Selecterm, Inc. She began her career at Xerox Corp. in South Bend.
