Fall Entrepreneurship Series Announced
Do you want to try a new business venture? Do you have an idea to change your operation? Do you need a business plan? Indiana University South Bend's School of Business and Economics will present a number of speakers during the fall semester who will give expert guidance for those looking for a new or retooled business project.
The School of Business and Economics, along with sponsor Lake City Bank, will present the Entrepreneurship Lecture Series through the fall semester. This is the fifth year for the program. The 12 lectures will showcase many of the area’s premier business organizations and their chief executives.
Although the series is part of graduate-level class, each lecture is free and open to the public.
Each speaker will delve into an aspect of entrepreneurship. The first speaker is Larry Davis, president of Daman Products. He will present "Entrepreneurship: Breaking the Traditional Rules" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.
All lectures begin at 7 p.m. and are in Room 1001, Wiekamp Hall.
The dates, speakers and topic are: Sept. 6, Mark A. Tarner, president of South Bend Chocolate Co., "Becoming the Network"; Sept. 13, John Regan, chief executive of Fabric Services, "The Environment of Entrepreneurship"; Sept. 20, Dr. Arnold del Pilar, of Del Pilar Medical and Urgent Care, "Building Your Dream"; and Sept.27, James L. Powers, national managing executive of Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, "The Business Plan."
The October speakers will be: Oct. 4, M. Scott Welch, president and chief executive of Welch Packaging Group, "Entrepreneurship Strategies"; Oct. 11, Rick Singleton, president of Studio A Advertising, "Resources and Capabilities"; Oct. 18, Dan Fitzpatrick, chairman and chief executive of Quality Dining, "Corporate Franchising"; and Oct. 25., Marilyn Moran-Townsend, chief executive of CVC Communications, "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Entrepreneurs."
The November speakers will be: Nov. 1, Rob Bartels Jr., president and chief executive of Martin’s Super Markets, "Creating the Organization"; Nov. 8, Thomas Hiatt, managing partner of Centerfield Capital Partners, "Foundations of New Ventures Finance"; and Nov. 15, Michael L. Kubacki, chairman, president and chief executive of Lake City Bank, "Securing Investors and Structuring the Deal."
