Indiana University South Bend School of Public and Environmental Affairs Associate Professor Douglas Singh has co-authored the third edition of Delivering Health Care in America: A Systems Approach, a textbook published by Jones and Bartlett Publishers. His co-author is Johns Hopkins School of Public Health Associate Professor Leiyu Shi.
According to Singh, the health care system in the United States “is perhaps the most complex in the world.” Delivering Health Care in America provides a comprehensive survey of the “patchwork” of public and private service that composes the U.S. health care system. The book also explores the adequacies —and shortcomings—of the American health care system. This edition is expanded from previous editions to 650 pages, and features 175 illustrations and tables.
Singh acquired his doctorate in health administration from the University of South Carolina in 1994, and has been an associate professor at IU South Bend since fall 1999. He is also director of the Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management Program.
