The deadline is April 30 for applications for 10 Alumni Association Scholarships from Indiana University South Bend. The scholarships, worth $3,500 each, are awarded to graduating high school seniors for the freshman year of study at IU South Bend. The amount covers tuition for full-time students at the campus.
The goal of the program is to assist students who are enrolled in IU South Bend's honors program. A student who successfully completes the freshman year of studies in the honors program and fulfills the program's prerequisites is eligible to be awarded the honors scholarship worth $1,400 for subsequent years.
Eligible students must have a combined SAT score of at least 1200 or an ACT score of at least 27, rank in the top 10 percent of their senior class, have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a college preparatory curriculum based on a seven semester transcript, and graduate from a private or public high school in northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
Students who do not meet all of these criteria but demonstrate an ability to succeed in the honors program as determined by the honors program director will be considered.
Three references along with a 300-500 word essay must be submitted to the honors program director Professor Brenda Knowles, Honors Program, Indiana University South Bend, Suite A-206A, 1700 Mishawaka Ave., P.O. Box 7111, South Bend, IN 46634-7111.
