Official enrollment figures have been released for the spring semester at Indiana University South Bend and two records were established. A new mark was set for credit hours taken with 64,895, an increase of 1.2 percent over the 2004 spring semester and full time equivalent students reached a new high with 4,440, also a 1.2 percent increase.
These two categories are important to the university. Credit hours determine the amount of budget dollars IU South Bend will receive for operational costs from Indiana University. The full time equivalent continues the trend of more traditional-aged (18-22) students taking classes. Full time equivalents are students taking at least 12 credit hours.
IU South Bend also achieved another notable milestone. For the first time in a spring semester, minority students comprise more than 11 percent of the student body (11.3 percent).
Commencement at IU South Bend is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, at the Joyce Center on the University of Notre Dame campus. Registration for summer and fall classes begins for current students by appointment the week of April 4 and for all others beginning on April 11.
