Before managing the bookstore for nearly two years, he was co-owner of a deli and sandwich shop in South Carolina, and a credit manager for 20 years for an engineering firm in Harbor Springs, Mich.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Mich., and an associate degree at North Central Michigan College, Petoskey, Mich.

He started the IU South Bend job on Jan. 3.
