HOOSIERS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

Presents the

SUE H. TALBOT DISTINGUISHED HHE MEMBER AWARD To

EMIL “LUCKY” REZNIK

Emil “Lucky” Reznik is the first recipient of the Sue H. Talbot Distinguished Hoosiers for Higher Education (HHE) Member Award. This award, which was presented Tuesday (Feb. 21) in Indianapolis, was created to honor a HHE member for dedicated service, and volunteer work to the organization. The recipient also must exemplify Talbot’s spirit and loving support of Indiana University.

Sue H. Talbot of Bloomington is a member of the IU Board of Trustees and is founding director of Hoosiers for Higher Education, IU's advocacy organization. She has been special assistant for education to the governor and is a two-time recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash designation, a special award bestowed by Hoosier governors.

Reznik is a dedicated advocate of IU and especially for the campus of IU South Bend. As a graduate of IU South Bend with a master’s degree in business administration, he used his knowledge in the financial sector and retired as vice president of the 1st Source Corporation.

He is a lifetime member of the IU Alumni Association and has been a community captain for HHE since 1999. Reznik served as a member of the IU South Bend Board of Advisors and currently as an ex-officio member of the IU South Bend Alumni Board. He received the IU South Bend Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1982 as well as the IUAA President’s Award in 1998.

Reznik worked on numerous committees and task forces in order to strengthen IU’s and IU South Bend’s relationships with area legislators. He is a regular participant to Indianapolis for the Statehouse Visit with IU staff and students.

Lucky’s wife, Shirley, also is an alumna of IU having received a master’s degree in education at IU South Bend.
