“The Power of the Student Voice” is the theme for an upcoming Conference on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) on Friday, April 15, at Indiana University South Bend.
The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Activities Center and Wiekamp Hall.
The keynote speaker will be Kathleen McKinney, the Patricia Cross Chair in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and professor of sociology at Illinois State University. Her talk at 9:30 a.m. in Room 1001, Wiekamp Hall, will draw upon a number of Carnegie Scholar SoTL projects used to obtain the student perspective in several learning disciplines.
There will be a number of presentations and workshops on learning and teaching methods, competency-based course development, the scholarship of teaching and three perspectives on course content.
The conference is sponsored by the University Center for Excellence in Teaching (UCET) and the Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET), in partnership with Andrews University, Bethel College, Holy Cross College, Ivy Tech State College and Saint Mary’s College.
The cost is $40 for faculty and $10 for students.
