This time “IT’s All About You”

The Information Technologies Department at Indiana University South Bend invites students, faculty, and staff to attend the 2006 Making IT Happen! The annual half-day event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the Grille (cafeteria) of the Administration Building, IU South Bend.

The fair theme is: “IT’s All About You” and the importance of technology and how it affects everyone.

The event is designed to increase awareness about the many information technology (IT) services and tools available to the university community. The event also provides a forum to showcase creative uses of IT, especially by students.

Student technology showcases are at the very heart of the event. Students have the opportunity to exhibit an IT-related project that they have done as part of a class or a personal project.

In addition to student projects and research, the fair will feature demonstrations, services, products, refreshments and giveaways.

Adobe-Macromedia and Bell Tech Logic, Apple, Cingular, Dell, Microsoft, MobileSphere, Verizon and Vista Presentation Solutions will be showing their newest offerings.

“ Indiana University has exceptional IT resources available to students to support academic work, and Making IT Happen! is an ideal place to learn about them,” said Garland C. Elmore, associate vice president and dean of information technology at IUPUI. “The event is a great place for students to share their hard work and creativity.”

About 100,000 students statewide benefit from IU's information technology resources.

The fair, which is free and opened to the general public, gives techies and the technologically challenged a place to meet and learn.
