The history and issues of Title IX and women’s athletics will be discussed at a lunch table talk at Indiana University South Bend. The discussion will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, in room 225, Student Activities Center.

Title IX states: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal assistance.

Three speakers will present their perspectives on the challenges and impact of Title IX. Nan Tulchinsky, director of athletics for the South Bend Community School Corp.; Sally Derengoski, director of RecSports and Fitness, University of Notre Dame; Lynn Kachmarik, NCAA compliance coordinator and director of athletics, Saint Mary’s College, each will give their insight.
