World Languages in the Spotlight
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences of Indiana University South Bend will have its second event in its spring edition of “Major in the Spotlight.” World Language Studies will be the featured major from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, on the third floor bridge of Wiekamp Hall.
“Major in the Spotlight” is designed to help current and prospective students learn more about a major and related job opportunities during panel presentations by faculty members, alumni and current students pursuing the field of study. Members of campus recognized clubs related to the field also will be introduced.
A question and answer period will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will answer the question: What can I do with a major or a minor in this field?
Faculty members Tammy Fong-Morgan and Lesley Walker, current student Blake Robertson and an IU South Bend alumnus will answer questions about studying world languages, opportunities and careers.
Studying foreign languages and cultures offers students communicative skills and understanding that is valuable in many fields, such as business, education, medical, law enforcement, media, social service and the service industry.
