Thanks to a revolutionary photographic process, visitors to the Web site of Indiana University South Bend can now seemingly float above campus and take a virtual tour of the facilities.
With the help of Image Digital Media (IDM), IU South Bend offers online visitors the opportunity to hover over buildings on campus, navigate from place to place, and click on a structure to go inside.
The new online tour requires a computer with high bandwidth capabilities (broadband). Low bandwidth users (dialup) will be able to take the existing photographic tour. To access either tour, go to http://www.iusb.edu and click on the “Take a Campus Tour” button or the photograph. Then choose either the high bandwidth or low bandwidth option.
The high bandwidth tour allows viewers to experience several sensations, including flying above the campus, zooming in and out, speeding up and down, and entering and exiting buildings.
“IU South Bend is always trying to get people to visit campus to see the wonderful facilities that are available,” said Pat Ames, vice chancellor for Information Technologies. “The additional online tour is another exciting way to tell our story.”
The new virtual tour begins on Monday, May 2.
