Indiana University South Bend’s collegiate chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma has been recognized by the honor society as a premier chapter for its superior level of membership acceptance and promotional activities in the 2003-04 academic year.
Beta Gamma Sigma is the honor society for the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
By receiving this premier chapter award, IU South Bend’s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter is being recognized for its high level of success in recruiting top business students into the society.
Each year, the society extends invitations to the top 7 percent of business juniors, the top 10 percent of business seniors and the top 20 percent of business graduate students. The premier status is granted when at least 85 percent of the invitations are accepted by the undergraduates and graduate level students. According to information provided by the chapter by IU South Bend, 95 percent of the invited students joined the society.
With the premier status, the IU South Bend chapter is eligible to award at $1,000 Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship for 2005-06 academic year.
Along with a certificate, the chapter also is pre-qualified for consideration as an outstanding chapter, the highest honor attainable by a collegiate chapter. Of the 417 chapters established on college and university campuses, only 62 were recognized as premier chapters in 2004.
