South Bend, Ind.
The Michiana Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) will have its 2006 STUDENT NIGHT at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 9, in the Associates Building, Ruskin Street, on the campus of Indiana University South Bend. Students who may be pursuing, or would like information on, the many career paths in information technology, accounting, and internal audit are encouraged to attend.
The evening will include a buffet dinner and presentations from keynote speaker Timothy Collins of the Purdue Homeland Security Institute. The event will focus on the internal audit job market and student career concerns. In addition to learning about the profession, students will have the opportunity to inquire about various internal audit and accounting internship opportunities with sponsoring companies and institutions in the area, including PRI Audit and Control, Zimmer, CFS, the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University, and others.
"This is a great opportunity for both the students and the sponsor companies", stated Laura Cortier, certified internal auditor, manager of Risk Management for RSM McGladrey, Inc., and president of the Michiana Chapter of IIA. According to Cortier, "Some of the best students from the Michiana area will be at this event to learn about job market opportunities along with a strong representation of local employers. I think every company and student who cares about their future and the future of the Michiana economy should be represented here. Last year’s event had a record number of student attendees as well as corporate sponsorships and booths/display tables." Andrews University, Bethel College, Ivy Tech, IU South Bend, and the University of Notre Dame have all had strong representation in the past.
The Michiana IIA chapter is inviting all accounting and information technology students, university faculty, and internal audit professionals to participate in this event. Corporations interested in identifying highly talented local college students for current or future position vacancies are also welcome. There is no charge for students to attend this event. To register or learn more about this event, call Laura Cortier at (574) 296-3736, or e-mail laura.cortier@rsmi.com or visit the IIA website at http://www.theiia.org/chapters/index.cfm?cid=95. Final registration deadline is November 3. Due to space limitations and the traditionally high interest in this event, early registration is encouraged to guarantee student/faculty/company reservation.
