The film "The Education of Shelby Knox: Sex, Lies and Education" will be shown at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7 in the Alumni Room, Administration Building, IU South Bend.
The film examines the life of a 15-year-old girl who has pledged abstinence until marriage. Shelby lives in Lubbock, Texas, and becomes an unlikely advocate for comprehensive sex education when she finds out that the high school teaches abstinence as the only safe sex. The high schools in the area had the highest rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in the state.
Both screenings are free and open to the public.
