Two Israeli Documentaries to be Presented
Two documentary films by Israeli filmmaker Yulie Cohen Gerstel will be shown Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Browning Family Cinema, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame.
“My Terrorist” (2002) will be presented at 7 p.m. and “My Land Zion” (2004) at 9 p.m. Gerstel will be on hand to answer questions following each film.
The event is co-sponsored by International Programs and Women’s Studies at IU South Bend, IU Bloomington International Programs, and the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, University of Notre Dame.
Gerstel was a stewardess on El Al flight in 1978 when she was wounded by hijacker Fahad Mihyi. Twenty-three years later she called for reconciliation with her terrorist and an end to hostility and bloodshed.
The second documentary deals with life, freedom, morality, justice, fear, forgiveness and love in the Middle East.
