Indiana University South Bend was recently ranked as an outstanding business school by the Princeton Review. The New York-based educational services company features the school in the just published 2007 edition of its "Best 282 Business Schools." There are more than 1,500 schools of business in the United States.

The book has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on the academics, student life, admissions, cost, selectivity and career placement services. The survey was answered by 18,000 students at the 282 business schools.

According to Robert Franek, Princeton Review vice-president of publishing, "We chose schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences."

The students praised "the excellent MIS/MIT offerings," "small classes with friendly approachable professors" who “have a wealth of experiences in the business world," "student centered," "great library and facilities" and "strength in high-technology area."

Franek continued that IU South Bend is "one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA."

The review does not rank schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 282, or name one school best over all. The book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories.

In a "Survey Says…" sidebar in the profile, the Princeton Review lists topics that IU South Bend students it surveyed for the book were in most agreement about. The list includes "friendly students" and "smart classrooms."

The Princeton Review’s 80-question survey asked student about themselves, their career plans, school’s academics, student body and campus life.

The book is published by Random House/Princeton Review.
