Community Forum to Examine IU South Bend's Direction
Indiana University South Bend wants input from the community on the campus’s future and direction. The community forum will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, Room 1001, Wiekamp Hall.
The forum is free and open to the public.
The forum is part of the accreditation process for the campus by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. The faculty, staff and students have been preparing for the HLC accreditation visit for three years with a self-study to examine every aspect of campus life.
The accreditation is a certification of institutional quality and integrity.
A commission team will be on campus from Nov. 12-14 conducting interviews, studying files and campus publications. The HLC reviews institutions every 10 years to ensure that they continue to meet the criteria for accreditation through a peer review process.
The five criteria that were established by the commission are: mission and integrity; preparing for the future; student learning and effective teaching; acquisition, discovery and application of knowledge; and engagement and service.
Those unable to attended may visit the Website at http://www.iusb.edu/~hlc and click on "submit feedback" link to submit a comment.
