Leaders from Lake Michigan College and Indiana University South Bend have signed an articulation agreement that will make it easier for students to transfer to IU South Bend upon completion of their associate degrees at LMC.

Under the agreement, any LMC student who has completed associates degrees in arts, science, general studies, or business administration may transfer up to 60 credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree at IU South Bend.

“In addition to providing a high-quality and affordable first two-years of education for our students, we are focused on providing them with seamless transitions to four-year colleges and universities,” stated LMC president Richard Pappas. “This important partnership provides added value to Lake Michigan College students by giving them a precise roadmap as to what courses will transfer to their chosen program of study at IU South Bend.”

The agreement also calls for the two institutions to work together to develop guidelines for other areas in which LMC has coursework that compliments additional IU South Bend bachelor degree programs. Acceptance into a specific IU South Bend program will require meeting the conditions for that program, including a minimum grade of 2.0.

“IU South Bend welcomes the opportunity for graduating LMC students to transfer their hard-earned credits to our campus and earn an IU degree,” said IU South Bend Chancellor Una Mae Reck. “Articulations agreements like this are a win-win situation for students and the institutions.”

Indiana University South Bend is a public, comprehensive, bachelor and master degree granting institution serving more than 7,200 students. IU South Bend offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and 17 master’s programs.

Lake Michigan College is a two-year community college with campuses in Benton Harbor, Niles and South Haven. It serves more than 7,000 students annually and offers a wide range of one- and two-year occupational programs as well as programs designed to transfer to four-year institutions.
