Cathy Buckman was recently named to the position of assistant vice chancellor of enrollment services and registrar at Indiana University South Bend. She started in the job on July 31.

Buckman most recently was the director of enrollment services/registrar at Purdue University North Central, Westville. She had worked at Purdue North Central for 19 years in a number of positions including academic advisor, career counselor and director of admissions.

Buckman, who lives in LaPorte, received her bachelor's degree from Purdue North Central, and her master’s degree from IU South Bend.

She said that she went back to school as a non-traditional student and considered law school after she completed her bachelor's degree. However, Purdue had an opening for an academic advisor where she began her career.

"IU South Bend is primed for growth in many aspects and I’m looking forward to being able to participate in the future development of the campus," she said.
