Entrepreneurship Lecture Series
Starting a new business or taking your present business to the next level? Indiana University South Bend’s School of Business and Economics will present speakers who will give you expert guidance on a new or retooled venture.
The School of Business and Economics along with sponsor Lake City Bank will present the Entrepreneurship Lecture Series through the fall semester. This is the fourth year for these outstanding presentations on the many facets of the business world. The 11 lectures will showcase many of the area’s premier business organizations and their chief executives.
Although the series is part of a graduate-level class, each lecture is free and open to the public. Following the 7 p.m. talk, several of the speakers will join the students in small-group discussions.
Each speaker will delve into an aspect of entrepreneurship. The first speaker, Larry Davis, president of Daman Products, will present “Entrepreneurship: Breaking the Traditional Rules” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept.7. All lectures will be in Room 1001, Wiekamp Hall.

Scott Welch, CEO of Welch Packaging, “Entrepreneurial Strategies” ; Oct. 5, James Powers, engagement executive of Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, “The Business Plan”; Oct.12, John Regan, CEO of Fabric Services, “The Environmental Entrepreneur”; Oct. 19, Marilyn Moran-Townsend, CEO of CVC Communications, “The E-Entrepreneur”; Oct. 26, Thomas Hiatt, managing director of Centerfield Capital Partners, “Foundations of New Venture Finance” ; Nov. 2, Michael Kubacki, chairman, president and CEO of Lake City Bank, “Securing Investors and Structuring the Deal”; Nov. 9, Robert Bartels Jr., president and CEO of Martin’s Supermarket, “Creating the Organization” ; Nov.16, Dan Fitzpatrick, president and CEO of Quality Dining, “Corporate Venturing, Networking and Franchising.”
The IU South Bend Alumni Association will host a reception preceding the Nov. 2 lecture from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
