Parents and Guests
Orientation is a time of transition not only for the students, but also for those individuals closest to the student, whether they be parents, grandparents, legal guardians, spouses, or significant others.
We invite you to accompany your student to the orientation program. There will be a special session devoted particularly to parent/family issues. You will hear about many of the services available at IU South Bend to assist your student, as well as from various faculty, staff, and students about the transition to the university environment.
In the afternoon, students will be attending academic unit information sessions. In some cases, parents and guests may accompany their student. Please refer to the schedule below:
College of Health Sciences
Parents and guests may attend this session. All students in this academic unit register in advance of orientation. No registration takes place at orientation.
School of Business and Economics
Parents and guests may attend this session. All students in this academic unit register in advance of orientation. No registration takes place at orientation.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Parents and guests may attend this session. All students in this academic unit register in advance of orientation. No registration takes place at orientation.
School of Education
Afternoon session is limited to students only. However, parents and guests are invited to accompany their student at lunch to meet with Education faculty and staff prior to the afternoon session. Transfer students with 12 or more credit hours register prior to orientation. For all others, registration will take place at a follow-up appointment that students will set during this afternoon session.
