Research objectives are "to develop and replicate models for community building and empowerment; to create psychological assessment tools sensitive to differences caused by race, gender, and class inequities; and to establish a university-community partnership to bring about social change." Other interests: international service-learning, qualitative research methodologies, diversity as social justice.

Daniel DeBrule

(University of Southern Mississippi, 2004; Ph.D. expected 2008). Office: DW 2169. Phone: 574-520-4119. Acting Assistant Professor. Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology. IUSB faculty member since 2007.

Research interests include traumatic experience and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD; exposure-based writing interventions, posttraumatic growth), mood disorder and creativity. Future research efforts will also examine the writing paradigm (developed by Pennbaker) and innovative writing interventions in the context of stress, mood, and psychophysiological variables in addition to trauma/PTSD.

Dr. Mettetal's office is located in Wiekamp Hall in the Psychology area. She began a joint appointment in summer 2005 in Psychology and Education and began teaching courses in the Department of Psychology in Fall 2005. She became Department Chair in January 2006. She also continues teaching courses in Education.
