  • IRB Update - All of the protocols that were suspended last October have been either re-approved or closed and IU South Bend's Institutional Review Board (IRB) is entering a transitional period. For the next few months all applications for IRB approval (exempt, expedited, and full) will be reviewed by the full IUSB IRB in conjunction with the chair of the Bloomington Human Subjects Committee (Peter Finn). Our deadline is noon on 10/15/04 to be reviewed on 10/22/04. We will be scheduling more meeting in the next week or so. Check the website for the latest review schedule. http://www.iusb.edu/~sbirb

  • IUSB Researchers in the News
  • Workshop Opportunities: If you would like to attend a grant-related workshop on the Indianapolis or Bloomington campus, the Office of Research will pay for your travel. Check out what is available at http://www.iupui.edu/~resgrad/spon/workshopcontent.htm If there is enough interest in any specific topic we can arrange to have their presenters come to IUSB.

Recent Funding Opportunities

This is a very short, unrepresentative list of funding opportunities. It only reflects those hard copy RFPs that have been received by my office in the last month or so. A more comprehensive list of current funding opportunities can be found on the IU Granstlink. You can also search for funding opportunities using keywords from COS.

NSF has published a revised version of the NSF Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) (NSF 04-23) that will be effective for proposals submitted on or after September 1, 2004. This document supercedes all prior versions of the GPG and can be accessed at:
http://www.nsf.gov/pubsys/ods/getpub.cfm?gpg

This new version:

  • provides potential proposers with a description of the various categories of funding opportunities utilized by NSF to generate proposals, as well as the appropriate scenarios in which each are used;

  • incorporates new descriptive information on the types of submissions that may be required under NSF program solicitations, as well as the rationale for their use; and

  • implements enhanced capabilities in FastLane for submission of proposal file updates.
