Dear Colleagues: We are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2005 Indiana Forum for Research Administration. Our 17th annual meeting will be held at the Abe Martin Lodge at Brown County State Park in Nashville, Indiana on Sunday, July 31 – Monday, August 1. Registration forms for the meeting and the form for room reservations are enclosed. These forms are also available on the IFRA web site at http://www.iusb.edu/~sbres/ifra/ifra.html.
A copy of the program agenda is enclosed. We have an interesting mix of speakers this year. To kick off the morning session, Dr. James L. Pyle, Ball State University, will be talking about the state of research not only in Indiana, but in general. Ethel Workman, Indiana University Bloomington, will speak about time and effort reporting right before lunch. We will wrap up the day with a panel discussion of pre- and post-award administration—or how pre-award and post-award are more effective when they work together. Also, there will be hot topics discussion tables to help us gain fresh perspectives on various issues with which we struggle daily. So, bring a couple of those topics to the meeting for discussion. You may be surprised to find that you are not alone in your frustrations!
For those who have not previously attended an annual meeting of IFRA, you will find it a relaxing counterpoint to other meetings you may attend. Families are welcome to come and enjoy the great recreational facilities at Brown County State Park (a link to the park is on the IFRA website listed above). Sunday evening’s picnic and entertainment are for families, as well as conference participants.
Monday’s breakfast and lunch are included with your registration. A block of rooms has been reserved for IFRA participants and families. To make your room reservation, please use the enclosed form. The room block will be guaranteed only until June 30, so make your reservation soon.
On behalf of the Coordinating Committee, we look forward to an informative meeting and relaxing time together, and hope you will be able to join us.
Cordially,
Monica Bauer
