Subject: Be on the alert for email scam that LOOKS like PayPal!
We've had numerous reports today of emails that LOOK like they are from PayPal. As with many other "phishing" scams, this email looks authentic. It claims that an address has been added to your PayPal account, and asks you to visit the provided website (that LOOKS like PayPal's web address) if you did not authorize the addition.
When we reported the email to PayPal, they confirmed that THIS IS A SCAM and urged users NOT to enter any information into the website that is provided in the email. If you HAVE a PayPal account and already have entered information in response to this scam email message, change your PayPal password and security questions and answers immediately by logging into the PayPal website directly. You may also want to contact your bank and credit-card company immediately.
Similar "phishing" scams have been received that APPEAR to be coming from CitiBank, eBay, IU Quickpay, etc. Remember: NEVER enter personal information or passwords in response to an email. If you have a question about the legitimacy of an email, contact the company directly.
Do not follow links that are included in the email.
