This is a repeat of an earlier telephone scam alert. We have had at least one incident of fraud perpetrated using our telephone system. This scheme involves a caller who poses as a telephone technician and requests assistance in checking for line problems. The caller requests that certain keys be punched (depending on the carrier), which allows the caller to access an outside line and then either charge the call directly to the company or use a stolen telephone credit card.

If you receive this type of call report it to IU South Bend Campus Police at 520-4499.

The Office of Information Technology should be contacted for all phone problems. They will then deal directly with the telephone company.

Report all phone problems to the Helpdesk at 5555.
