Rebecca Shaffer. Implements a support group and website for members of the LGBT community who are victims of intimate violence. The website, at http://breakingsilence.com, includes a moderated chat room. She is a graduate from IUSB, with a Bachelor's in psychology, and is currently completing a Masters of Social Work.

Wanakee Brown. Is developing a dance and movement class for children at the Center for the Homeless in South Bend, IN. She is a Women's Studies major at IUSB. She will replicate the Umcebo Trust model for using the arts with vulnerable peoples to develop income generating skills when the team travels in 2009.

Lucas Mark. Is working with Companions, a community-based program working with felons returning to their communities. His work in community corrections is as a liaison and life coach. He is a psychology major at IUSB.

Mary Robinson. Uses the arts to create social change by exploring issues of women's empowerment in relationships and in society. She is a sculptor, using mixed mediums. She is developing an exhibit on the theme or co-dependency.

Lakisha White-Clark. Joined SOCACT so recently that she is in the "hanging out and talking" phase of the work. She is talking with community members and reading the SOCACT archives and thinking and letting ideas percolate. She is a 2007 graduate of Indiana University South Bend, with a Bachelor's degree in General Studies.

André Anderson. Founded and facilitated the Poetry Jams, a monthly open mike gathering that appeals to high school and college students. After graduating from IUSB with a B.A. in psychology (1999), he went on to earn an M.A. from Fisk University (2002), and is now pursuing his doctorate at Capella University. He is returning to SOCACT to move the project to the next level: replication of the service-learning model.

Dé Bryant Community psychologist, specializing in grass-roots social change, community-based action research, and international service-learning. She holds a Ph.D. in community psychology and urban studies from Michigan State University. She is a professor of community psychology at Indiana University South Bend. She is the Director of the Social Action Project and is conducting the program evaluation for the Children's Rights Initiative.
