An anchor links two locations on the same page.
Anchors allow a user to click on something from a list of topics near the top of
the page and the page then scrolls down to the place where that topic begins. There are two components to an anchor: the bookmark (lower in the file) and the link (usually near the top).
Insert the Bookmark Component of the Anchor
- Move the cursor to a location low on the page and click to position the cursor there.
- Move the pointer to "Insert" at the top of the page and click on
"Insert". A menu opens down.
- Move the pointer all the way to the bottom of the menu,
where the double arrows are. The menu gets longer, showing more choices.
- Move on the menu to "Bookmark...", and click on "Bookmark...". A box opens.

- In the white space under "Bookmark name:", type a phrase to identify the bookmark. (This phrase will not appear on the page. It is just to assist the Webmaster in being organized.)

-
Click
"OK" in the bottom right of the box. The box closes, and
this symbol
appears where the cursor was.
Insert the Link Component of the Anchor

-
On the left side of the box, choose the square marked
"Place in This Document".
The "Text to display:"
field should be exactly the same as the text you highlighted.

In the middle section of the box is a list of bookmarks. If only one
is on the page, only one is listed.
-
Click on it. The link is highlighted on the page and in the box.

The box closes and the word or phrase chosen for the link is now underlined and in blue.
