A heading is a title or headline for a page.
The next step explains how to make it different from the rest of the text on
the page.
Inserting a Heading
- Move the cursor to the top left corner of the
desired cell and click to position it there. Type the heading text.
(It will be small.)

Choosing Heading Font, Style, Size, and Color
All these changes may be made from the same box.
Choose Heading Font

Near the top left of the box, under the word "Font", is a window showing a few font names.

Choose Heading Color
In the same box, under the window with the font list, find the word "Color" by a bar that displays "Automatic".
The automatic text color is black.
- To change the color of just
the heading, move the mouse pointer to the triangle at the right end of the bar, and click on the triangle. A box opens, with some color choices.

Choose Heading Style
High in the same box, just right of center, find the phrase "Font style:". Beneath it is another window for "Regular, Italic, Bold, or Bold Italic".

Choose Heading Size
In the upper right corner of the box, under the word
"Size:", there is another window. The numbers indicate the size of the text.
-
Use the arrows on the right side of the window to scroll
up and down this short list of sizes.
"3 (12 pt)" is about standard for blocks of text. A larger size is better for headings—maybe "6 (24 pt)" or "7 (36 pt)".
- Click on the desired size.

Aligning the Heading
With the heading text highlighted, look at the toolbars along the top.
There is a group of icons that look like this:

 |
Select this for flush left. |
 |
Select this for the heading to be centered on the page. |
 |
Select this for flush right. |
 |
This makes both right and left margins even—more useful for a block of text than for a heading. |
-
Click the icon for the desired alignment.
The heading will change position on the page if centered
or flush right is used.
