Posting a Web page is necessary for viewing the page on the Internet.
All students at IU South Bend have M:\
drives. Locating it and accessing it from more than one location
is covered in this tutorial. Depending on where you are when
posting a page, there are different sets of instructions:
To post a file from
the IU South Bend campus, click on this link: On Campus-POST.
To post a file from off campus, click on the following link: Off Campus-POST.
Posting from the IU South Bend
Campus
-
Double click on "My Computer". This opens a window with files and drives in it.

Locate the "Data (M:)" drive. Double click on it.

You are now viewing the files in your
"Data (M:)" drive.
- Open the html folder by double clicking on it. This folder may
contain files. Do not delete the files at this time.

- Minimize the window by clicking on the dash at the top right corner of the open window.

Now the "My Documents" folder on the
desktop is visible.
- Double click the "My Documents" folder to open it.
- Right click on the index.html file that was created
earlier in the tutorial. A menu opens down.
- Move the pointer down the menu to "Copy", and click on "Copy".

Now go back to the minimized "Data (M:)"
drive:
- Locate the windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen. The taskbar should have a minimized link called
"M:\html" or something similar.
- Click on it to maximize (open) the window.

Now to paste the file to the "Data (M:)" drive.
- Place the pointer anywhere in the white part of the window and
right click on it. A menu opens down.
- Move the pointer down the menu to "Paste", and click on "Paste".

An error window may open with the prompt "This folder already contains a file named 'index.html'. Would you like to replace the
existing file...with this one?"
- Click on the box labeled "Yes".

Locate the
at the top right hand corner of the screen.

Click it once to close the window.

Posting from Off Campus
- Double click on Internet Explorer.
- Locate the address bar and type ftp://oit.iusb.edu

This opens a new window asking for your "User
Name" and "Password".

This opens your M:\ drive folder.

- Double click on the "html" folder. This folder may contain files. Do not delete the files at this time.

- Minimize the window by clicking on the dash at the top right corner of the open window.

Now the "My Documents" folder on the
desktop is visible.
- Double click the "My Documents" folder to open it.
- Right click on the index.html file that was created
earlier in the tutorial. A menu opens down.
- Move the pointer down the menu to "Copy", and click on "Copy".

Now go back to the minimized "html"
folder:
- Locate the windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen. The taskbar should have a minimized link called
"ftp://oit.iusb.edu/-Micro..." or something similar.
- Click on it to maximize (open) the window.

Now to paste the file to the "Data (M:)" drive.
