This part of the tutorial explains the process of setting up space on the IU South Bend server on campus. For these steps,
the user must have and know their IU South Bend username and password.
Spinweb Instructions:
- To access the command prompt, click on the "Start" button. Move the pointer up to
"Run…" and
click on it.

In the window that follows, it reads "Open:". Next to the
word open is a box.
- Click in the box and type cmd and click the "OK" button or press
"Enter". A new window will then open.
- Click on the new window to make sure it is active, but do not close the window.

Connecting to the Server via Telnet:
- In the active window, type telnet and press "Enter".
The following message will display: "/ Microsoft Telnet>".
- Type the following: open oit.iusb.edu then press "Enter".
If an error occurs in the following steps, keep going. The
program allows for starting these steps over.
At this point, the screen will prompt you for a login: and password:.
- Type your IU South Bend username and press "Enter".
- Type your IU South Bend password and press "Enter".
If you see a prompt similar to "[USERNAME@umbrella ~]$", then you are logged on into the
IU South Bend servers.

Creating the Web Space:
- After "[USERNAME@umbrella ~]$", type spinweb and press "Enter".
The following prompt appears: "Would you like to have your name added to our master index list?"
- Type y and press
"Enter".
The last step of creating Web space is logging out.
Located in the upper right hand corner,
is an "X".
- Click the "X" to close the window.
The user has now
completed the steps to create Web space on an IU South Bend server.
