How to Safely Remove a USB Thumb Drive
After you have saved your project and are ready to remove your Thumb Drive, it is important to follow the steps below to ensure that you do not damage your drive or lose access to your saved files.  Also, make sure that all of your documents are closed before removing your Thumb Drive.

1. Click on the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon located in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

2. Next, select the thumb drive to be removed, then click “Stop”.

3. Windows will ask you to confirm the drive that you want to stop. If you selected the correct drive, click “OK”. If you selected the wrong drive, you can now select the correct one.

4. Remove the thumb drive after windows notifies you that it is safe to unplug the device from the PC.
