Does IU South Bend have scholarships?
Yes, there are more than one hundred IU South Bend campus and academic unit scholarships available. Scholarships are available for both
undergraduate and graduate students.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
Yes, as long as you meet the criteria. Scholarship criteria are required by the
gift agreement. The gift agreement is a legal document. Therefore, the criteria required cannot be altered.
Can I mail several applications in a single package?
Yes, make sure the postage is correct.
Where do I drop off completed applications?
Drop off completed applications at the Information Center: Gateway to Excellence
in the Administration Building lobby.
Do I need to provide copies of my FAFSA?
No, when you sign the application, you give permission for us to access the information that is on file with the financial aid office.
Can I apply for scholarships before I am admitted to the university?
Yes.
Can I use the same personal statement for all scholarship
applications?
Yes, however, you should tell how you meet any specific criteria listed. Scholarship criteria are required by the gift agreement. The gift agreement is a legal document.
Therefore, the criteria required cannot be altered.
What’s the difference between
campus and academic unit scholarships? Campus scholarships are endowed scholarships which are open to students from all IU South Bend majors or program
plans. Academic unit scholarships are reserved for students who are majoring in a particular academic program.
Where can I find
information for all IU South Bend scholarships?
There are two sources for scholarship information.
- The “Paying for College” publication is available at the
Information Center: Gateway to Excellence
and in all administration and academic unit offices. In it are scholarship
descriptions, application deadline dates, and contact information.

Where can I find scholarship applications?
Campus scholarship applications may be printed from the Web site at www.iusb.edu/~scholar1. Academic unit program offices have the applications and
information. The scholarship Web site indicates which scholarships applications are printable from the site.
How will I know if I have been awarded a scholarship?
You will receive an e-mail for each scholarship for which you applied as soon as decisions are made.
What if I have a scholarship check from an organization outside of IU South Bend? Take the check to the
bursar’s office at IU South Bend.
