The following scholarships are awarded through the general scholarship application process. All students must be formally admitted into IU South Bend to receive a scholarship. The deadline is April 1 unless otherwise specified:
William L. Bryan Scholarship
The William L. Bryan Scholarship provides a current or entering undergraduate student enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree. The student must show scholastic ability, character, leadership, and the promise of future success. Preference is given to students with a 3.3+ cumulative GPA. The scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Josephine A. Byron Memorial Scholarship
The Josephine A Byron Memorial Scholarship provides a current or entering undergraduate student enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree. The scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Clark Equipment Minority Scholarship
The Clark Equipment Minority Scholarship provides financial support for current and entering IU South Bend undergraduate or graduate students who, without the aid of this scholarship, would be unable to obtain a higher education. Preference will be given to qualified minority students. Preference will also be given to students enrolled full time (12 credits per semester). The applicant must file a needs analysis form such as the FAFSA to be considered. The award may be prorated for less than full time enrollment. The scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Charles W. Cole Scholarship
Applicants who ranked below the top 10 percent of their high school class, are residents of St. Joseph County or adjacent Indiana counties, are pursuing a bachelor's degree on a full- or part-time basis, and have financial need as demonstrated by a needs analysis form such as a FAFSA are considered for this scholarship. Awards vary depending on the availability of funds. The award is currently a maximum of $1,850 per semester for tuition, fees, parking, and books. Additional funds for childcare at the IU South Bend Child Development Center and summer enrollment may be possible. Recipients are subject to the IU South Bend Financial Aid Withdrawal Policy. This means that all financial aid, including the Cole Scholarship, is recalculated under two circumstances: 1) if a recipient withdraws from a class or classes during the first week of classes; or 2) if a recipient withdraws from all classes during the first 60 percent of the semester. The recalculation of awards under either circumstance may require a repayment of funds to the Cole Scholarship account. Any required repayment must be completed before further scholarship funds are released. Recipients may reapply each year. Renewal awards require a GPA of 2.5 and completion of 80 percent of their enrolled courses per semester and attendance in at least two of the four academic terms per year. Recipients must file a FAFSA or other needs analysis form every year to be considered for renewal. Renewals will be supported prior to making awards to new applicants. This scholarship is awarded through the South Bend Community Foundation, and is chosen annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
William W. and Anna Jean Cushwa Scholarship
This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who have need as determined by a needs analysis form such as a FAFSA, and possess a 2.5+ cumulative GPA. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Arthur J. and Patricia G. Decio Scholarship
Open to IU South Bend undergraduate and graduate students. Preference is given to applicants with financial need, as determined by a needs analysis form such as the FAFSA, and academic merit. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Zalman and Virginia Dekelboum Scholarship
This scholarship aids current or entering students enrolled full- or part-time in undergraduate or graduate programs. The scholarship is based on financial need as determined by a needs analysis form such as a FAFSA, and academic merit. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Donna B. Harlan Scholarship
This undergraduate scholarship provides support for residents of St. Joseph County or adjacent Indiana counties, pursuing a bachelor's degree on a full- or part-time basis, and demonstrate financial need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as a FAFSA. Preference is given to working mothers employed outside the home who have sole or shared parental responsibility for minor children, and non-traditional students who are working towards completion or are returning to complete their undergraduate degree. Awards are made for one year. Recipients must reapply each year and continue to file their needs analysis form or FAFSA. Preference is for renewal of awards require a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and attendance in at least two of the four academic terms per year. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Cressy T. Havens Scholarship
This scholarship is based on financial need as determined by a needs analysis form such as a FAFSA, and academic merit. A minimum 3.3 GPA is preferred. This scholarship will be awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
R. F. Hawkins Scholarship
This merit-based scholarship is for both undergraduate and graduate students attending IU South Bend full or part time. Applicants must be admitted and demonstrate a strong record of past academic accomplishments with a minimum 3.0 GPA to qualify for and maintain the scholarship. The essays on the scholarship application should show how this scholarship will assist the applicant in obtaining educational/career goals. At least two scholarships of $1,000 to $1,500 are awarded. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
IU Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students and gives preference to applicants with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
IU South Bend Book Grant for Underrepresented Students
This award is for incoming underrepresented students (African American, American Indian, or Hispanic) who graduated from a U.S. high school with a Core 40 (or equivalent college preparatory) diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. IU South Bend Elkhart Center Scholarship
This scholarship is for any undergraduate or graduate student who is a resident of Elkhart County and is pursuing a degree at IU South Bend. Preference is given to applicants who meet the following criteria: have a minimum 2.5 GPA; have financial need as determined by the FAFSA; and are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the IU South Bend Elkhart Center. IU South Bend Opportunity Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least half time who, without the aid of this scholarship, are unable to attend IU South Bend. Applicants must show financial need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. Preference is given to qualified minority students; African American first, and Hispanic second. Strong preference for students enrolled full time. This scholarship is awarded through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
IU South Bend Titan Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to incoming undergraduate students who (1) graduated from high school with a Core 40, Academic Honors, or other equivalent out-of-state diploma with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and scored 1000 (combined verbal/critical reading and math scores) or higher on the SAT (21 or higher on the ACT); (2) received a final grade of A or B in an Advance College Project or dual enrollment course through IU South Bend; or (3) completed 26 or more transferable hours from a regionally accredited university with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Charles and Gloria Jacot Scholarship
This award provides financial support to needy and deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Charles H. Malott Scholarship
Each award is at least $400 to financially needy and studious persons who are working toward an undergraduate degree. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Esther P. Noffsinger Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at IU South Bend who has a 2.5+ cumulative GPA, is a resident of Elkhart County, and is taking at least one course at the Elkhart Center. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship has a strong preference for single mothers. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Pfeiffer, Morgan, and Stesiak Scholarship
This scholarship supports undergraduate scholarship and the necessary expenses required to attend IU South Bend. Graduates from high schools in Elkhart, La Porte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke counties in Indiana as well as Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph counties in Michigan are eligible to apply. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Donna R. Pfeil-YWCA Scholarship
The Donna R. Pfeil-YWCA Scholarship assists single parents who are unable to complete or continue their education at IU South Bend without scholarship support. The scholarship is to assist with the cost of tuition and books. Applicants must be single adults (age 18 or older) with primary custody of their child, have an IU South Bend GPA of 2.0, or have completed high school with a C or better average. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. Strong preference is given to applicants who are single female parents and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Samuel and Shirley Raitzin Scholarship
The Raitzin Scholarship is intended to aid any current or entering undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at IU South Bend who may need financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. The award is made annually through the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. The scholarship is awarded through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Christine Pochert Ringle and Jerry Ringle Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support to full- and half-time incoming freshmen students who are first-generation college students, either traditional or nontraditional, who graduated from Plymouth High School with a Core 40 diploma. Requires a 2.0+ cumulative GPA. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship is awarded annually through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Woodrow W. and DeVota V. Schramm Scholarship
LaVille High School graduates and Penn High School (Madison Township residents only) graduates may apply for this scholarship for use at IU South Bend. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic merit, and personal achievements. It is renewable each year assuming continuing financial need and good academic standing. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. The award amount varies depending on funds available. This scholarship is awarded through the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Jack and Sherron Schuster Scholarship
This scholarship is for second-semester freshmen, sophomore, or junior students who are residents of Elkhart County, U.S. citizens, and are enrolled in nursing, education, or accounting. Students must have a 3.0+ GPA and demonstrate financial need by having a family income of $50,000 or less. Students must be enrolled in at least one class at the Elkhart Center each semester that the scholarship is in effect. Preference is given to students who intend to reside in Elkhart County upon completion of their degree. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Skyline Corporation Scholarship
This scholarship assists undergraduate and graduate students at IU South Bend. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
J. & F.M. Swain Scholarship
This $400 scholarship is for Indiana high school graduates who show promise and leadership. It is based on merit and need. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
James F. and Sharon K. Van De Veire Scholarship
This scholarship is for full- or half-time undergraduate students who are sophomores or above and who have obtained a 3.0+ GPA and enrolled in the School of Business and Economics, or pursuing a B.S. in Public Affairs, Criminal Justice, or Health Services Management. Students must be employed. Students working 35 hours or more must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to apply. Students working 20-34 hours per week must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours to apply. Proof of employment and number of hours per week may be requested. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Richard D. Watson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students and graduate students enrolled full and part-time in the school of Education or within the Public and Environmental Affairs curriculum. Academic merit as expressed by a 3.0+ GPA is required. Preference is given to minority students and veterans. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Ruth Josephine Wells Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are formally enrolled at IU South Bend. Preference is given to students with a 3.0+ GPA, but not required. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Dot and Dar Wiekamp Scholarship
This scholarship provides current or entering students enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in completing or pursuing a degree. The award is open to current and entering undergraduate and graduate students. Students must show need as determined by a needs analysis form, such as the FAFSA. This scholarship is awarded annually by the IU South Bend Scholarship Committee.
Robert J Wolf Scholarship
