All students must complete both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the IU South Bend Application for Financial Aid to be considered for some scholarships. Printable applications require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Campus Scholarships

Articulation Grant for Graduate Students
This grant assists residents of southwestern Michigan who are enrolled in graduate programs at IU South Bend by providing a need-based nonresident tuition grant. Award amounts vary depending on the program and the number of credits in which a student is enrolled. Applications are at the Office of Student Scholarships and in each graduate program office. Arthur J. and Patricia G. Decio Scholarship
Open to IU South Bend undergraduate and graduate students. Preference is given to applicants with a minimum 3.3 GPA. Click here for the printable application. Application deadline is April 1.

Zalman and Virginia Dekelboum Scholarship
This scholarship aids current or entering students enrolled full- or part-time in undergraduate or graduate programs. The scholarship is based on financial need and academic merit. Click here for the printable application. Application deadline is April 1.

Friends of the Franklin D. Schurz Library Student Employee Scholarship
This scholarship rewards library employees and scholars. The Friends of the Schurz Library established a student employee scholarship for students who work either in the Franklin D. Schurz Library, the Learning Resource Center (LRC), or Instructional Media Services (IMS). These unrestricted awards are in the amount of $100 to $500. Applications may be picked up in Schurz Library 304 or from any library supervisor. Application deadline is January 15.

R. F. Hawkins Scholarship
This merit-based scholarship is for both undergraduate and graduate students attending IU South Bend full or part time. Applicants must be admitted and demonstrate a strong record of past academic accomplishments with a minimum 3.0 GPA to qualify for and maintain the scholarship. A letter explaining how this scholarship will assist the applicant in obtaining educational/career goals must accompany the application. Four scholarships of $1,000 to $1,500 are awarded. International Student Fee Remission Scholarship
International Student Fee Remission Scholarships are available to highly qualified, non-immigrant, F-1 and J-1 international undergraduate and graduate students. To qualify for the scholarship, F-1 and J-1 students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate economic need.  Applications are available from the international student services office, Administration Building 167, or at www.iusb.edu/~oiss. IU South Bend Alumni Association Andre Corporation Scholarship
Undergraduate and graduate students at IU South Bend are eligible to apply for this award. Criteria include a minimum 2.5 GPA, enrollment in at least 6 credit hours each semester the award is received and financial need. A personal statement and letter of reference are required as part of the application process. Preference may be given to employees or children of employees of the Andre Corporation. IU South Bend Alumni Association Sueño Scholarship
This scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are formally admitted to and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at IU South Bend. Considerations include a minimum 2.0 GPA for undergraduates and a minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate students; financial need, based on the FAFSA or the Alternate Needs Analysis; and a completed application, which includes an activity sheet , a personal statement, and a letter of recommendation. Preference is given to Hispanic and Latino students, but the scholarship is open to qualifying students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. IU South Bend Elkhart Center Scholarship
This scholarship is for any undergraduate or graduate student who is a resident of Elkhart County and is pursuing a degree at IU South Bend. Preference is given to applicants who meet the following criteria: have a minimum 2.5 GPA; have financial need as determined by the FAFSA; and are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the IU South Bend Elkhart Center. IU South Bend Elkhart County Scholarship Fund
Established to encourage the pursuit of education by all residents of Elkhart County. Applicants must be residents of Elkhart County for at least one year, be enrolled, pursuing a degree, and in good academic standing at IU South Bend. Information and the application is available on the Elkhart County Community Foundation Web site at http://www.elkhartccf.org/File/static/students/index.shtml. Application deadline is April 1.

Charles and Gloria Jacot Scholarship
This award provides financial support to needy and deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Click here for the printable application. Application deadline is April 1.

Esther P. Noffsinger Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at IU South Bend who has a 2.5+ cumulative GPA, is a resident of Elkhart County, and is taking at least one course at the Elkhart Center. IU South Bend Opportunity Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who, without the aid of this scholarship, are unable to attend IU South Bend. Lester C. Lamon Scholarship
This scholarship is for any undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an understanding of the value of personal responsibility and commitment to community service through the Civil Rights Heritage Center. The scholarship is given to participants in the Civil Rights Heritage Center with a satisfactory academic performance as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4-point scale for undergraduate students and a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4-point scale for graduate students. Donna R. Pfeil-YWCA Scholarship
The Donna R. Pfeil-YWCA Scholarship assists single parents who are unable to complete or continue their education at IU South Bend without scholarship support. Applicants must be single adults (age 18 or older) with primary custody of their child, have an IU South Bend GPA of 2.0, or have completed high school with a C or better average. Helen F. Pope Memorial Scholarship
This award encourages participation in the IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center (CRHC). Preference is given to African American/Black, Hispanic, and female students. Undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA and graduate students with a 3.0 GPA and financial need may apply. Recipients will take a leadership role in a CRHC program each semester. Samuel and Shirley Raitzin Scholarship
The Raitzin Scholarship is intended to aid any current or entering undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at IU South Bend who may need financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree. Richard D. Watson Memorial Scholarship

Dot and Dar Wiekamp Scholarship
This scholarship provides current or entering students enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in completing or pursuing a degree. The award is open to current and entering undergraduate and graduate students. Click here for the printable application. Application deadline is April 1.

Robert J Wolf Scholarship

David Starr Jordan Foreign Studies Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to encourage undergraduate and graduate students at IU South Bend to enhance their education by residence and study abroad. Applicants may be majors in any academic field. Click here for the printable application. Application deadline is February 1, 2008.

Joseph L. and Julia B. Peyser Study-Abroad Scholarship
This scholarship encourages well-qualified students at IU South Bend to enrich their education by residence and study or research abroad. Study abroad proposals may be made for a period of or one academic year, one semester, or a summer session. A desirable study-abroad focus would be the study of a modern foreign language in the country where that language is spoken on a daily basis. An acceptable study-abroad proposal may include English-language programs in English-speaking or other countries. All majors are welcome to apply. Click here for the printable application. Rex and Alice A Martin Fellowship in Piano
A fellowship in piano for the highest caliber full-time graduate piano student with a declared piano major in the Toradze Piano Studio. The fellowship(s) is renewable on an annual basis, provided the student meets the criteria and expectations of the director and dean.

CTS Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate finance major and/or graduate accounting major. The recipient of the graduate scholarship must be a student who does not receive funding from their employer.

James Pattillo Memorial Scholarship
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student in the undergraduate accounting or master of accounting program. Application deadline is February 20.

Faculty Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate education majors enrolled in more than 6 credit hours per semester. The award is based on merit and need. Preference is given to applicants with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Application deadline is April 1.

Miholic Loan
This fund provides low-interest financial assistance to a student in the special education teacher preparation program. The loan is open to current and entering undergraduate and graduate students preparing for licensure in some area of special education. Applicants must show promise for completing the program within three years.

Rutherford B. Porter Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is open to full-time traditional junior, senior, or graduate students with a declared major in special education; or a part-time, nontraditional student working on a special education endorsement. Application deadline is April 19.

J. Vincent Peterson Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for graduate students who are admitted to the master's in counseling and human services program and are members of an underrepresented group, i.e.; minorities and men, in that program. Applications are available in the counseling and human services department and awards are made through the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. Dorothy Allen Memorial Mathematics Scholarship
This scholarship provides current undergraduate and graduate students majoring in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at IU South Bend with financial assistance in completing their degrees. Preference is given to students who have international experience or interests. Application deadline is March 15.

William J. Knight Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for computer science students at IU South Bend with potential for excellent academic achievement. Applications are available at the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and on the Web at www.cs.iusb.edu/scholarship/wknight.pdf. The award is open to current undergraduate and graduate students as well as promising incoming students. Application deadline is April 1.

John P. Russo Fund Scholarship
Established to provide current undergraduate and graduate students majoring in computer and information sciences with financial assistance.
