On January 25th, 2006, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology lost a valued colleague, teacher, and friend when Ariela Royer passed away.

As part of the departmental memorial service held on campus, March 29th, the department asked various people who knew Ariela to write down memories of her and send them electronically so they could be printed and put in a book to give to her family. Because many people did not get a chance to read these memories, we have decided to make them available on our departmental web site so that others can be reminded of all that Ariela meant to her friends and her colleagues.
