Interests
Theo is a medical anthropologist with research interests in African culture, medical pluralism, tropical infectious disease, reproductive health, and substance abuse. He specializes in the peoples and cultures of the Senegambia Region of West Africa, Ethiopia, and the United States, particularly African Americans.
He plans to begin research concerning traditional medicine usage among the Dakarkari of northern Nigeria in December.
Theo earned his PhD in 2006 from the University of Kentucky and a MPH in public health from the University of Illinois in 1998.
