The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Services is part of an ongoing commitment to the quality of student life at IU South Bend. Through a variety of programs and services that promote academic, social, and personal development, we seek to maximize the opportunities for student success and to enhance the overall educational experience.

A wide range of free services may be obtained through the Office of Student Services. The following is a list of links to some of the Web sites/services we offer.

Academic Learning Services
Experienced tutors help with math, science, sociology, and almost all subjects except writing. Use computers and special software for your classes, develop study and note-taking skills, find faculty with special expertise, or attend Supplemental Instruction (SI) study sessions. Check online or the posted schedules at the Learning Center for times.

Career Services
The Career Services Office helps students choose majors and find internships; offers job-search skills workshops, on-campus interviews, career and job fairs, and professional networking opportunities to both students and alumni.

Counseling Center
The Student Counseling Center provides professional and caring assistance to students facing challenges that contribute to academic problems and threaten college success. We help students deal with stress, relationship issues, and other emotional problems.

Disability Support Services
The Office of Disability Support Services supports students with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities by offering accommodations and assistance with the campus experience.

Diversity Services
The Office of Campus Diversity promotes a multicultural campus by recruiting and supporting underrepresented students, faculty, and staff, and by offering diversity training and developmental seminars on diversity issues.

The Office of Student Judicial Affairs offers seminars and workshops on academic and personal integrity, as well as enforces Indiana University’s Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct.

Multicultural Enhancement

Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. There is no need to bring anything with you, nor is there a cost to obtain an ID.  A $10.00 fee is charged to your bursar account for replacement cards, however.  Students need an IU South Bend picture ID to utilize the facilities at the Student Activities Center. The ID also serves as your library card. If you have questions, call the Office of Student Services at (574) 520-4270.

Placement Exams
First-time students and some transfer students are required to take placement exams in reading and mathematics. In addition, there is an optional placement exam in English. The world languages placement exam is also encouraged for students who have studied French, German, Japanese, and/or Spanish.

Student Life
The Office of Student Life oversees a variety of student-administered interests including more than 50 student clubs and organizations, the Student Government Association, and Titan Productions.
