South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestras Perform November 4
The South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra will open their season with a performance at 4 pm on Sunday, November 4, in the Campus Auditorium of Northside Hall. The concert will include performances by the South Bend Youth Concert Orchestra and the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Directed by Emilie Grondin, the South Bend Youth Concert Orchestra performance is themed “Let’s Dance!” and will include pieces by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakoff, Ottorino Respighi, and Antonin Dvořák.
Directed by Robert Boardman, the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra will present Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in c minor, Op. 67 in its entirety. This ensemble rarely plays a work of four movements in its complete form.
The two South Bend Youth Orchestras are a collaborative project in the Michiana community with the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts. They were formed as part of an effort to provide young musicians with an opportunity to rehearse and perform in a larger ensemble.
Tickets are available to adults for $4 in advance and $6 at the door through the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Box Office. Students and children receive tickets free of charge. Seating is general admission. For more information and to order tickets visit arts.iusb.edu or call 574.520.4203.
