Interns begin video series on the Raclin School of the Arts
Raclin School of the Arts Community Outreach Interns Mark Sniadecki and Sarah Duis recently began a video series highlighting the school’s activities. Their first video (above) features The Preface, IU South Bend’s student newspaper. The 3-minute video includes interviews with editors and writers, and offers a glimpse inside the world of IU South Bend communication students who work for the student-written, edited, and designed paper.
“We started with The Preface as our first project because as editor-in-chief, I was able to get easy access to the staff and our office,” says Duis. “It was really exciting to see the final video that Mark, our new media specialist, put together. We’re looking forward to branching out to other areas of the school and helping direct videos that really show what kind of exciting work and learning is going on at this school”
The project was the idea of the school of the arts’ Director of Community Outreach Michele Morgan-Dufour.
“I wanted to start this project because video is a perfect medium to promote the arts. Prospective students won’t just read about our programs—they can see and hear the kinds of things that we’re doing here. It just made sense to have two student interns work on it, because it brings the whole idea full circle—that we are preparing our students through real-life applications—and they’re putting out great work.”
